A DEMENTIA information session for relatives of older people living with dementia is taking place at a care home in Tuckton next week.

Karen Hodges, group dementia lead for Care South, will give the talk at Wickmeads Care Home on Tuesday, May 14, from 6pm to 8pm, as part of the home’s plans for Dementia Action Week.

The session at the care home on Wickmeads Road will cover the symptoms that a person living with dementia may experience and explain the changes within the brain responsible for language and communication.

Karen will also discuss how to adapt how loved ones speak to people with dementia to enable them to continue having meaningful connections.

The free event is open to the public and relatives of Wickmeads residents. Places are limited and must be booked in advance.
