SHOCKING footage shows the moment a golf ball flew through the air and struck a supercar.

The Wimborne resident was left furious by the damage to his McLaren car, which retails at more than £200,000.

At around 2pm on March 12, 2023, the driver, who spoke on condition of anonymity, was driving along the A338 Wessex Way, a dual carriageway close to Queens Park Golf Course.

Suddenly, a white flying object smacked the side of the driver's 720s McLaren.

Upon impact, the driver thought nothing of it until they got home and saw the extent of the damage that had been caused to their windscreen.

The man said: “When returning home, it became clear that a sizeable object had impacted the very bottom left corner of the car windscreen, where is it black film backed rather than clear, causing the glass to be shattered. Cracked and indented."

After downloading the dashcam footage, it became clear that a golf ball had struck the windscreen.

The cause of the incident was deemed to be the golf course's netting having significant holes allowing balls to pass through.

The golf course and its net are owned and managed by BCP Council and the cost of the partially shattered windscreen amounted to nearly £4,000.

At a hearing, it was found that BCP Council had to pay the sum of £4,826.44 by April 11, 2024.

In a witness statement, the man said: “As of January 2, 2024, the situation alongside the tenth tee of Queens Park Golf Course continues to be put at risk by the negligent omissions of the golf course operator, BCP Council.

“I believe that there remains a significant risk of damage, injury or even death to the general public innocently going about their daily business travelling on the A338 Wessex Way being met by golf balls travelling in the opposing direction with closing speeds in excess of 150mph.

“BCP Council have been and continue to be negligent in this respect.”

BCP Council were approached but refused to comment.
