TWO men have been arrested after officers seized and destroyed two knives at a property suspected of being used for ‘cuckooing’.

Officers raided a home in Bournemouth with two men were arrested as a result of the raid on April 28.

One of the arrested men was wanted after failing to attend court twice.

Two dangerous knives were also found during the search that have now been seized and destroyed.

A Bournemouth Police spokesperson said: “Boscombe NPT conducted a safe and well check this afternoon on a property on Holdenhurst Road.

“This was following information received that the occupant was possibly at risk of exploitation.

“Criminal gangs target the homes of vulnerable people to be used for drug dealing – a process known as “cuckooing”

“Once inside the property, two males were located. Both males were detained for a drug search.

“One of the males was wanted for failing to attend court x 2. This male has been arrested and will be kept in custody overnight to appear in court in the morning.

“Located within the property were 2 nasty-looking knives. These have been seized and will be destroyed as there is no place for them on our streets.

“We will continue to conduct our safe and well checks on the occupant and work with partner agencies to ensure the ongoing safeguarding of him and that the right support is put in place.

“Please continue to report incidents to us.

“Drugs have no place in our community and we will be relentless in our pursuit of criminality around this and protect those at risk of exploitation.”
