A PROPOSAL has been lodged for a new residential children’s home in Christchurch.

A planning application has been submitted for 3 Stroud Gardens requesting a change of use from a residential dwelling to a residential children’s home.

According to the application by Wild Orchid Therapeutic Services Ltd, the home would have eight rooms, providing space for four children, and would employ ten full time employees.

Parking for four cars is also proposed.

The application, submitted on April 24, is yet to be determined by BCP Council.

In October last year, Wild Orchid Therapeutic Services submitted plans to turn a detached house in Gleadowe Avenue, Christchurch, into a residential children’s home.

The company argued the proposal would secure “much needed” specialist support for children and young people to contribute to BCP Council’s specialist housing requirements.

However, the planning application was later withdrawn.

It also received two objections from residents, both describing the scheme as “concerning”.
