EMERGENCY services were called to a road in Bournemouth after a knife-wielding man was seen covered in blood. 

The police and ambulance service were called to a house at Markham Road in Charminster on Monday, April 22.

Police have closed the road to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.

Residents reported seeing a man 'covered in blood hanging out the window.'

One resident said: "He keeps appearing and shouting and then disappearing back into the house."

The window of the property is covered in blood splatters, which are reportedly from the man who has sustained injuries.

Another person said: "I've chatted to someone who lives in the area, and he said it's been going on since about 3am."

The police said they received a report at 6.08 am on Monday, April 22, raising concern for the welfare of a man at an address in Markham Road in Bournemouth.

A Dorset police spokesperson said: "It is reported that windows of property were smashed, and the man was in possession of a knife.

"Officers are in attendance with the ambulance service and are making efforts to engage with the man to resolve the situation safely.

"The road has been closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident."

The emergency services, including four police cars, two police vans and an ambulance, are still at the address on Markham Road.
