TRAVELLERS have set up a base behind a stadium in Poole.
The small group are believed to have been behind Hamworthy Football Stadium, off Eccles Road, for about a week now.
BCP Council said the group is made up of two units, including caravans and associated vans.
A spokeswoman for the authority said: “A group of two units have arrived at a location close to Hamworthy Football Stadium.
“Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council staff attended the site to carry out the statutory welfare and educational needs assessment.
“They also undertook risk assessments to determine the level of support to be given to the group.
“Going forward, we will continue to monitor the site and support the group with ongoing visits.”
A spokeswoman for the county force added: "Dorset Police received a report at around 6.20pm on Thursday 11 April 2024 of an unauthorised encampment in the area of the Twin Sails Bridge in Poole.
"Officers have attended the site and liaised with those present.
"We will continue to monitor the situation and will work with our local partners to take appropriate action if required."
