TWO men tried to break into a vehicle using a large chisel but fled the scene when shouted at by a member of the public.

The suspects were seen apparently trying to gain entry to a vehicle park on Symes Road, Poole, near to the junction with Blandford Road, at around 8pm on Monday, April 15.

One of the pair was reported to be trying to force entry to the passenger side door with a large chisel-type tool.

This man was wearing a grey tracksuit with the hood up and white designs on the front, while the other suspect was wearing a black tracksuit with the hood up.

A member of the public shouted at them and they left the scene, heading off Symes Road onto Inglesham Way.

Now, officers investigating the attempted vehicle theft are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to come forward.

Police constable Jack Taylor, of Poole police, said: “We are conducting enquiries into this incident and I am keen to hear from any residents or passing pedestrians who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area.

“I would also urge residents with home CCTV or doorbell cameras, as well as motorists with dashcam who were driving in the vicinity, to please check their footage from the evening of Monday 15 April 2024 to see if they have captured anything of relevance.”
