A NEW Poole gym is set to open this summer after construction started.

BBL Gym has announced it will open its second gym in Poole which is set to have more than 200 pieces of equipment, a sauna, and an ice bath.

Based in Churchill Business Park, owner Leka Oluyemi, 34, hopes to provide Poole with a gym offering that sits somewhere between David Lloyd and PureGym.

He said: "We do have a gym in Basingstoke and we wanted to expand more to the Bournemouth and Poole area.

"I studied at AUB and left a few years back and went to Basingstoke.

"The first gym has been pretty successful so we just got a new investor to open a new entity."

Coasting £500,000, Leka hopes the gym can provide what people need in the area, offering more gym equipment to cut down on waiting times.

On top of this, it hopes to incorporate new cutting edge ideas, such as the ice bath and shipping equipment from the USA and China.

He said: "We're trying to incorporate things like ice bath recovery, saunas and six or seven different classes including boot camps, boxing and pretty much everything there is to have in a fitness industry including for power lifters, weightlifters and the bodybuilders.

"We're importing all of our equipment from America and China so it's all going to be Hammer Strength gym equipment."

Just shy of 8000sqft, the gym extends itself over three units with plans to expand in the future.

With no confirmed opening date, Leka hopes to open doors in June or July and has been blown away by the amount of residents already registering interest into the gym.

Announcing the gym on April 12, hundreds have already signed up on the gym's website.

Leka said: "In the past three days we've had just over 300 sign ups on our website which is pretty bizarre and I didn't think we'd get that much."

BBL Gym will offer memberships between £40 to 60 a month in hopes to become a bespoke gym.

Leka has stated discounts will be on offer for service workers including NHS and police.
