THE MISCHIEVOUS monkeys are returning to Bournemouth for a nostalgic 90s-themed party.

Cheeky Little Monkey is coming to town to celebrate its 25th birthday reunion at the Old Fire Station on Saturday, April 20, 2024.

Cheeky Little Monkey first opened its doors in April 1999 at The Showbar at Bournemouth Pier.

The club night was the brainchild of Ash Osman, an RAF veteran inspired by his global clubbing experiences during active duty.

Ash said: "Without knowing a single DJ, not being in with a clubbing crowd in Bournemouth or even knowing what a promoter was and did - I had this epiphany and desire to start Cheeky Little Monkey to try and recreate that something special."

Established in the vibrant clubbing era of the late 90s, Cheeky Little Monkey drew sold-out audiences and established itself as a 'prominent force in the vibrant hard house music scene, bringing together a community of party animals who danced their nights away every week'.

Ash Osman's cousin, Jody Osman, a Bournemouth University student at the time, played a pivotal role as the resident DJ, helping to shape the club's signature sound.

Jody said: "We showcased the top hard-house DJs, cultivating our distinctive south coast sound marked by a playful, funky and uplifting vibe."

However, the club's reputation wasn't just about music; Cheeky Little Monkey embraced openness and inclusivity, becoming a place where everyone could come together and feel at home.

Club rules on display emphasised the importance of respecting each other by "not ruffling, hassling or harassing the other monkeys".

Cheeky Little Monkey provides free water, cloakroom services, and a chill-out area overlooking the sea for people who want a break from dancing.

The line-up includes 'hard house legend' Lisa Pin Up, who will be making her debut performance alongside Andy Farley, Superfast Oz (OD404), Dan Madams and the 12 Inch Thumpers, with Jody Osman returning as a resident, together with his younger brother Jake, making it a family affair.
