A MOTORCYCLIST knocked off her bike in a hit and run on West Cliff Road junction has been taken to Poole hospital. 

Ambulance have taken a woman in her 30s to Poole hospital after she was knocked off her motorbike at the junction between West Overcliff Drive, West Cliff Road, and Clarendon Road at around 5pm on April 8. 

Police also responded to the incident with the driver that hit the bike fleeing the scene in what was believed to be a Vauxhall Astra. 

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: "We were called at 16:55hrs on Monday 08 April to a road traffic incident in Westbourne.

"We sent a double-crewed land ambulance to the scene and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Poole Hospital."

Police partially closed Clarendon Road and put cones around the crash site on West Cliff Road. 

It has said enquiries are ongoing to identify the vehicle and that officers left the scene at 7.35pm.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "It was reported that the car, believed to be a Vauxhall Astra, did not stop at the scene.

"The motorcyclist, a woman aged in her 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment to an injury to her leg."

"The motorbike was recovered and officers left the scene at around 7.35pm."

Eyewitnesses reported hearing large smash with cars at both Clarendon Road and West Overcliff Drive junctions having watched the incident.

Local resident, Chris Pearson, said: "I just heard the impact, I was getting in my car and the next thing I knew, the bloke who hit the girl on the bike was driving past. 

"He was smoking a cigarette and he was speeding off. They sped off up [Clarendon Road] so they obviously didn't think of stopping. Just drove away."

The woman commented on the Echo's Facebook that she has broken her nose and two parts of her leg and will be operated on April 9.

She has said she will be in Poole Hospital over the next few days while the Hospital keeps an eye on her.
