RAILWAY fanatics will soon be able to have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to drive an historic train.
Swanage Railway is allowing the public to drive a Class 24 D5054 train in an all-new experience.
In a post on social media, Swanage Railway said: “We are delighted to announce a unique opportunity to drive Class 24 D5054 during its visit to the Swanage Railway.
“The experiences will last roughly 30 minutes and include one light-engine round trip between Norden Road/Rail interchange and our boundary with Network Rail at the River Frome bridge.
“This offers a rare chance to drive on our 'extension' that allows us to connect to the national network.
“Whether you are seeking the perfect present for a special someone who loves Class 24 as much as we do, or whether you’re looking for the chance of a lifetime, this experience is tailored to you.”
The experience costs £250 and is available on May 18 and 19.
