A POPULAR golf and hotel spa has finally closed its doors for the last time.

Dudsbury Golf Club Hotel and Spa closed to the public on April 1.

Founded in 2006, the hotel boasted 160 acres of panoramic views of Stour Valley and is home to the ‘most spectacular countryside’ on view in Dorset.

In October, it was announced that the golf club off Christchurch Road, in Ferndown, would close on March 31.

It was later also revealed that the remainder of the Hotel and spa would also cease trading on February 1.

In a letter from the proprietor, Beate Robinson, it read: “We want to express our personal gratitude to each and every one of the staff members who have been part of our team over the years.

“Their dedication and support have been invaluable, guiding us through numerous challenging times.

“I would like to thank everyone for all the support and kindness they have shown me and for appreciating all we tried to do at Dudsbury.”

Tributes began pouring in to celebrate the life of The Dudsbury. On social media, a comment read: “Thank you for looking after us so well on our many stays with you. Good luck in the future to everyone.

“I'll admit I cried as I drove away from my stay this morning. It really has been a very special place and there is nowhere like it.”

Another comment read: “So sad as we've had some amazing times there. Many Christmas parties, New Year's parties, tribute nights, and meals.

“Everyone is so friendly, and we will miss you all. All the best for the future.”

The hotel also hosted celebrations and weddings; one person commented: “This is so sad to read.

“We had the most magical day when we married here in June 2016 and have so many fond memories of other occasions we have spent with you.

“Such a sad day but totally understand.

“Thank you to each and every member of staff who has always made us feel so welcome and gone.”

Plans for the future of the area are yet to be announced.
