A MAN smashed a car window before searching it and fleeing the scene when confronted.

It is reported that around 12am on Wednesday, March 27, a red Hyundai was damaged outside a property in Surrey Road, Bournemouth.

The offender reportedly smashed the window of the car and searched the vehicle.

He then fled in the direction of Bournemouth Gardens after he was confronted.

No items were reported as missing from the car.

The man is described as aged in his 40s, of medium build and five feet nine inches tall.

He was wearing a blue baseball cap, blue coat with a white fur hood and grey chinos.

Officers investigating this criminal damage are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to come forward.

Police constable Zeke Gura-Lowe, of Bournemouth police, said: “We are conducting enquiries into this incident and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area of Surrey Road in the early hours of Wednesday 27 March 2024.

“I would also urge residents and motorists in the area to check any available home CCTV systems or dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything that might assist our enquiries.”
