THE DRIVER of a stolen vehicle fled the scene of a crash after police were called to a two-vehicle collision in Poole.

Officers were called to Rosemary Road at 4.50pm on Thursday, March 28 after receiving reports of the crash.

The occupants of a grey Volvo XC90 fled the scene on foot and are yet to be identified.

It was later confirmed the Volvo had been reported stolen from Winston Avenue just 20 minutes before the incident.

Police are investigating.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 4.50pm pm Thursday 28 March 2024 of a two vehicle collision in Rosemary Road in Poole.

“It was reported that the occupants of one of the vehicles involved, a grey Volvo XC90, had left the scene on foot.

“Officers attended and carried out searches of the area but they were not located and enquiries to establish their identities are ongoing.

“It was subsequently established that the Volvo had been reported as stolen from Winston Avenue in Poole at around 4.30pm that afternoon.

“The road was cleared and officers left the scene at around 9pm.

"An investigation into this incident remains ongoing.”
