A Citizens Advice worker is set to run in the Brighton Marathon for the charity.

Advice session supervisor for Dorset and East Purbeck Citizens Advice, Adam Spong, has agreed to run in the Brighton marathon on April 7 for the charity.

Adam has been involved with Citizens Advice and believes its services are more used and crucial than ever before.

He said: "I've seen the difference that the charity make to people's lives every day and it's an opportunity to just try and raise a bit of money for the organisation.

"There's been an ever increasing demand in our service over the past few years, especially in the past year, and with the funding not always guaranteed,  we're welcoming as much support as we can get."

Although Adam has run in half-marathons in the past, this is first full length race.

Despite looking forward to it, he is aware it is also a massive challenge.

He said: "I've only ever done a couple of half marathons, so it is a completely different ball game doing a full marathon.

"I did my longest run the week before last, I think it was about 21 miles so I won't be able to do any further than until the day now."

Adam will be joined by two other runners, Matt and Scarlett.

Currently sitting  just under £200 off their goal of £2,000, Adam hopes to raise as much as he can to help the service.

He said: "We've definitely seen an increase in demand and its predominately volunteers who support the service and give up their time to come and help."

Adam will be joined his partner at the marathon and CA business manager, Katrina Ford.

Katrina agreed with Adam that demand for the service has been higher than ever.

She said: "We are extremely busy and have been for the past couple of years, what with cost of living and everything else going on.

"I was pleased I managed to find runners because I ended up just agreeing to do it myself but I didn't really want to, that doesn't sound fun at all."
