MORE than 100 people are without internet after a car smashed into a BT cabinet.

On Saturday, March 16, 2024, a car containing two people crashed into an electricity box in Gordon Road, Wimborne.

Residents have reported they have been without BT internet since the incident and have been told they won’t regain access until Friday, March 22.

Phillip Lee, who lives in the area affected by the internet outage, said: “It has been an absolute nightmare.

“Everything I do is online; it has been like going back in time to the stone ages.

“I have medical equipment that needs to be on the wi-fi because I have to send information to the hospital every day.”

The police and fire service attended the crash, which caused the internet outage.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “It is reported that the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing into the incident. No arrests have been made.”

A spokesperson for BT confirmed that the car crash led to 118 customers being without internet.
