MORE than 2000 people have been hit with a power outage in Bournemouth this morning.

The Scottish and Southern Electricity Network (SSE) reported that 135 postcodes between BH10 and BH8 have been affected by the power loss.

The outage was reported at 6.14am on Tuesday, March 19. SSE have said they aim to restore the power by 10.30am today.

A spokesperson for SSE said: " We are very sorry for the power cut and are aware of a fault in our main network affecting homes.

"This is affecting a large area, and it is likely several streets in your area are affected by the same outage."

The cause of the power cut is a fault in SSE's underground network.

SSE has said that it is a common fault, and they are experienced in dealing with similar issues.

In most cases, they are able to restore power by replacing a fuse at the local substation. However, if the fault is severe, they may need to make full repairs, which will take longer to carry out.

The SSE spokesperson said: "Our engineers are in your local area and working hard to get your power restored as soon as possible.

"At this stage, based on initial investigations, we're aiming to restore power by 10.30am.

"If this changes, we will let you know."
