BOURNEMOUTH has been covered with animal rights’ billboards ahead of Clarkson’s Farm star visiting the town.

PETA, an animal rights organisation, has plastered the town centre with nine billboards to urge locals to go vegan to support farmers and protect the planet.

It comes ahead of Clarkson’s Farm star, Kaleb Cooper, coming to Bournemouth on March 6 as part of his UK tour to promote British farming.

PETA vice president of corporate projects, Dawn Carr, said: “Everyone needs farmers, but farmers don’t need to exploit animals for meat, eggs, or dairy.

“PETA’s billboards encourage Bournemouth locals to support farmers by eating the nutritious and climate-friendly vegetables, grains, pulses, and fruits that they grow.”

The double-sided billboards can be found on Old Christchurch Road and Commercial Road, where they will be live for two weeks.

PETA states that animal agriculture is a leading cause of environmental destruction because it requires ‘massive amounts’ of land, food, energy, and water which emits greenhouse gases.

It continues that the National Food Strategy highlighted that 85% of total agricultural land in the UK is used to grow food to feed farmed animals instead of humans.
