A CARE home has launched a new mother and toddler group.

Ferndown Manor welcomed toddlers and their parents to encourage friendships across the generations.

The group will meet on the first Wednesday of every month, with sessions designed for new parents to spend time with each other and residents, to create a sense of community and reduce isolation.

The first session in February was a ‘resounding success’, with residents' grandchildren and even staff members' families coming along.

Lorraine, a resident, said: “I loved meeting all of the toddlers and parents, especially my granddaughter and great granddaughter who came along to have fun with us.”

Sara Muslin, home manager at the Care UK home, said: “We love having new parents and their children visit us at Ferndown Manor. It was lovely to see everyone interacting and have residents share stories about their own children and chatting about how times have changed since they were new parents.

“Intergenerational relationships have proven to be enriching for both young and older people, as they provide an opportunity for the different generations to learn from each other. It’s wonderful to see the three generations spending time with each other.

“We want to thank everyone who attended our first mother and toddler group. It is brilliant to see new friendships blossoming.”
