TRAINS have been disrupted in Bournemouth after a passenger was taken ill.

South Western Railway said trains may be disrupted and delayed, with some lines blocked.

A spokesperson for the operator said: “We have been informed that a passenger has taken ill onboard a train at Bournemouth.

“This means the line through platform 2 is currently blocked. Until the person's condition has been assessed by staff from the Ambulance Service the train is unable to continue its journey.

“All services between London Waterloo and Poole / Weymouth will use platform 3 and congestion may occur awaiting the platform to become available.

“For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.

“We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey.”

Shortly after 7.45pm, the operator confirmed the ambulance service had attended and the line had been cleared.

The operator said it estimates disruption to its services will end at 10pm this evening, February 28.
