A MAN was arrested after a fight broke out over a football game at a bar in Bournemouth.

A bar brawl between fans began at Brass Haus on Westover Road at around 8.30pm.

Officers and the ambulance service attended the incident.

It is believed the fight was during the Liverpool vs Chelsea game and a TV was reportedly smashed during the fight.

Bournemouth Echo:

A witness to the fight who asked not to be named said: “I was just on a pub crawl with my mates, we were just chilling in a booth and we heard a commotion, we turned around and there’s just a big group scrapping.”

“One person launched themselves into the crowd and just began hitting people.

“Staff were pretty heroic but were sadly outnumbered, they called the police as soon as everything went sideways.

“I saw a woman who had a lot of blood all over her face and drenched on her clothes, it was utter chaos.

“We saw condiments flying through the air aimed at this one guy, but it smashed the TV instead.

“There were at least 15 people involved, maybe even 20, there was so much going on I couldn't count.

“I wasn’t expecting it, Brass Haus is such a nice place to go to, no one would ever expect this would happen on a Sunday night.

"I’m definitely not going to come back when the football is on."

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 8.42pm on Sunday 25 February 2024 of a disturbance at Brass Haus in Westover Road in Bournemouth.

“Officers attended with the ambulance service. One man sustained an injury to his face during the incident.

“A 29-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.”

A spokesperson for the Southwestern Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 8.45pm on Sunday 25 February to an incident in Bournemouth and we sent a double-crewed land ambulance.”
