DORSET firefighters were called out to save nearly 200 sheep from a flooded field.
Firefighter crews from Blandford and Sturminster Newton were deployed to Tarrant Crawford on February 19 just before 11am to help save sheep from a flooded field.
Supported by technical rescue teams from Poole and Weymouth, the crews worked to assist a local farmer to rescue 195 sheep.
Said to be flooded by the nearby River Stour, the sheep were moved from the area of risk to a place of safety.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire reported that the task finished at 5pm, meaning it took about six hours to help save the sheep.
The rescue came after The Met Office issued a number of weather warnings for rain and wind in Dorset this week.
It was expected that flooding would occur with 15 to 25mm of rain likely in many areas.
On Thursday morning the Tornado and Storm Research Organisation issued a warning for the south of England of possible hazards of 'isolated brief tornados' and wind gusts of up to 50-60 mph.
