ALMOST seventy army homes at Bovington are to have external insulation added to make them more energy efficient and comfortable.

The properties in Wain Road, Robertson Road, Sewell Road, Elles Road and Swinton Avenue will each have cream-coloured insulation fitted externally which will also give the properties a more ‘contemporary appearance’ rather than the existing brick and brown cladding, according to the Ministry of Defence planning application.

Before the work takes place a licence will be needed by the contractors to move existing bat roosts and provide alternative roosts at some of the properties. A biodiversity plans also allows for ‘bee bricks’ and artificial nests for Swifts to be installed during the work.

The proposals suggest that residents will be able to stay in their homes while the work is carried out.
