Fire crews were called after a blaze broke out at a vehicle repair shop. 

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue reported to be tackling a tyre fire in Sturminster Newton on the evening of Monday, February 19. 

The fire reportedly originated from the Sturminster Newton branch of DCM Autocentres. No customer property was damaged and no one was hurt. 

DCM Autocentres, based in the Butts Pond industrial estate, wrote on social media: "We had a small fire in the back yard of our Sturminster Newton branch this evening.

"Fortunately no customer property was damaged and no one was hurt.

"We’d like to apologise for any disturbance caused and thank the local fire and rescue for their prompt and professional service."

The branch it will open as normal today (February 20).

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to Butts Pond Industrial Estate, Sturminster Newton at 6:28pm yesterday following reports of a fire in the open.  

"Two fire engines from Sturminster Newton and one 4x4 vehicle from Blandford were mobilised to the incident and on arrival found a fire involving some tyres, two vehicles and some storage containers.  

"A foam line, main line and hose reel jet were used to extinguish the fire and the stop message was received at 8:40pm.  

"Crews remained on scene until just before 9pm.  

"The cause of this fire has not been confirmed and no casualties were reported."
