OFFICERS are searching for the owner of a smashed-up abandoned car which is suspected to have been used in a burglary.
The Dorset Police Rural Crime Team were alerted to a car on February 17 which smelt strongly of fuel in Shaftesbury.
Upon further inspection of the vehicle, containers and siphoning equipment were found which are believed to have been used in a fuel theft.
A spokesperson for the Dorset Police Rural Crime Team said: “It’s fair to say the vehicle is in poor condition with a rear bumper missing, signs it’s been driven off road, a window smashed out, and no front registration plate.
“Following a search a knife was found in the vehicle as well as a number of empty alcohol cans.
“Thanks to Shaftesbury NPT for their assistance with this matter also.”
Now, officers are keen to speak to the owner of the vehicle.
