A BOURNEMOUTH care home has been sold to new owners after its owners decided to retire.

Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has completed the freehold sale of The Pines care home in Portchester Road.

After 20 years, the home’s previous owners Robert and Helen Somerville and Derek and Janet Young instructed Charles Phillips at Christie & Co to confidentially sell the home.

The home has been purchased by Jose Matthew and his team for an undisclosed sum.

Jose comes from a professional health and social care background, has many years of experience in working with people having mental health and learning disability needs.

Helen, on behalf of the shareholders, said: “We are delighted to have sold the business to the new owners and we hope they have a very successful time operating The Pines.

“I know we will miss all the residents and staff and it will take a bit of time to get used to no longer owning the business, but we all felt it was the right time to sell and retire.”

Jose added: “The Pines is a well-presented and well-looked-after business, and we are pleased to have completed the purchase.

“We look forward to continuing the previous owners' good work and building on their good name.”

Charles Phillips, director of healthcare at Christie & Co, said: “It has been a pleasure acting for Helen and Janet in the sale of The Pines and we are confident that the new owners will do well.

“As existing specialist care home owners, they have a great wealth of knowledge which will be of benefit to both their new staff and residents.

“We had a number of parties interested in this home which shows that there is great demand for specialist care homes throughout the south of England.”

The Pines is a CQC-rated ‘good’ specialist care home registered for 13 service users in the categories of learning disability, mental health, physical disability and younger adults.

It benefits from 13 single bedrooms with trading accommodation over the ground, first and second floors, with a secure enclosed garden to the side.
