A country lane is closed 'for some time' after a spillage of food grade golden syrup was spilled on the road. 

Crews from Bridport Fire Station are dealing with a spillage on White Way Road, between the A35 and Litton Cheney. 

The incident was reported around 1.59pm today (Thursday, February 8) which saw two crews fire crews from Bridport and Dorchester attended to contain the spillage. 

The Bridport crew have stayed to support Dorset Council and the police in getting the area clear. 

Motorists are advised to find an alternative route if they are travelling. 

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire fire said: "We were called to White Way, Litton Cheney at 1.59pm today (8 February) after a large quantity of food grade golden syrup was spilled on the road.

"Two crews initially attended, from Bridport and Dorchester, and firefighters worked to contain the spillage.

"The Dorchester crew has now left the scene but Bridport firefighters are supporting Dorset Council and the police in getting the affected area cleared."
