A MAN remains under investigation by police after a crash left a motorist with “very serious” injuries.

Two vans, a black VW Caddy and white Ford Transit, crashed along the A35 near Bloxworth, before Bere Regis on New Year’s Day.

Multiple emergency services rushed to the scene, including two air ambulances and multiple fire firefighters who had to cut free the driver of the VW.

Meanwhile the driver of the Transit, a man in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of driving offences.

He was reported to have fled from the scene on foot, according to police.

Providing an update, a spokeswoman for Dorset Police said the man, from Bournemouth, remains released under investigation while enquiries continue.

She said there was no condition update for the man in his 50s who was driving the VW after he had to be taken to Southampton General Hospital in a “very serious condition”.
