A NEW café will open at the site of a former Wetherspoon pub in Ferndown.

Café Aroma has announced it will be opening a new branch at the site previously occupied by the Nightjar pub in Victoria Road.

Posting on social media, Tracy Butcher of Café Aroma said: “We are pleased to confirm that we will be opening a new Aroma in the old Weatherspoons (sic) building.

“We hope to have the renovations finished by the end of May.”

She added the new eatery will be called Aroma Kitchen & Bar and will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The announcement was met with positive responses from dozens of people.

One person said: “Sounds like you're just what's needed in Ferndown good luck.”

Another added: “Yay! This is fab news…can’t wait to see Aroma thrive in Ferndown.”

The family-run chain has a number of venues across the area including Bournemouth, Poole, Wimborne, Ringwood, and Verwood.

According to the Café Aroma website, it was established by the Urel family in 2010 and prides itself on having an extensive menu featuring dishes “from all around the world”.

It also describes itself as being known for having the “friendliest staff on the south coast” and serving “generous portions”.

As previously reported, the Nightjar pub closed its doors in September last year.

It is understood Wetherspoon’s decided not to renew the lease for the building after the landlord hiked up the price.

More than 1,000 people signed a petition urging the pub chain to think again over its decision to close the watering hole.

However, the Nightjar pulled its final pint on Sunday, September 24.

As reported earlier this week, Wetherspoon is set to close its historic seafront pub, The Quay, in Poole.

The pub, which has been open for almost 30 years, will shut its doors for good once the site has been sold off.
