A HAUL of fake designer bags being sold in Bournemouth town centre has been seized by authorities.

Some 42 fake handbags imitating luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Supreme, were removed from a Westover Road shop on Wednesday morning, January 24.

They were taken away after a visit by BCP Council’s trading standards team and Dorset Police’s neighbourhood policing team including PCSO Harold.

A spokesman for BCP Council said: “Their work has already resulted in 42 counterfeit bags being seized; imitating luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Supreme.

“A small number of illegal vapes were also removed from sale at the same premises.”

The raid is part of a day of action being done by BCP Council and its partner agencies following criticism of the town centre.

The ‘Town Team’ is a multi-agency group including BCP Council and CSAS (community safety accreditation scheme) officers, Dorset Police officers and St Mungo’s.

In October, Dorset received more than £750,000 after a successful bid was made to the Home Office’s Safer Streets Fund.

This money will be used for several initiatives aimed at improving safety in Bournemouth, including adding new CCTV cameras on Horseshoe Common and West Hill.
