OWNERS of a Dorset campsite and holiday park have been left flushed with success after winning a diamond accolade at the latest Loo of the Year Awards.

South Lytchett Manor in Lytchett Minster has been praised for the outstanding washrooms at the popular site.

The holiday park has also been crowned as the overall winner in the best self-catering accommodation category.

Owners Joanne and David Bridgen beat hundreds of other eligible regional businesses at the recent tourism awards ceremony of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Destination Management Board.

The couple said the two awards have provided a “fantastic life-off” to what is already shaping up as a record-breaking year.

The couple took over the park 18 years ago and it now accommodates glamping, camping, touring caravans and motorhomes after significant investment.

Joanne, who runs the park with David and gets help from their grown-up son Matt and daughter Megan, said that 2024 will be an exciting time for the family.

Joanne said: “We have just invested in eight luxury Mongolian yurts which provide amazing views of the night sky and will be decorated and furnished with a sumptuous Moroccan theme.

“They will join our Romany caravans and shepherd’s huts to help provide guests with a memorable experience in this lovely area of Dorset countryside.

“We are absolutely delighted with our Diamond Loo of Year award as we take a special pride in maintaining our facilities in pristine condition for customers.

“The regional destination management award is also a very proud achievement, not least because it is based on both the quality of what we offer and the hospitality provided to guests.

“Creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere has always been a priority for us, and credit here must also go to our hardworking team who always go the extra mile for visitors.”

She added that bookings for the coming year are “extremely strong” and the family was pleased that so many other businesses in the area are also benefiting from visitors spending.

South Lytchett Manor is a member of the Best of British group which comprises some 50 independently-run parks with top-quality ratings based throughout the UK.
