RUNNERS are being encouraged to lace up their trainers for this year’s Bournemouth Bay Run.

Thousands of people are set to take part in the event along Bournemouth seafront.

Organised by BCP Council, Bournemouth Bay Run takes place on Sunday, March 24.

The event is open to runners of all abilities whether they run for fun, are embarking on a fitness journey, or do it for competitive reasons.

Participants can choose from half marathon or 10k events, with a 5k option along with a 1k children’s race.

Set against the backdrop of Bournemouth’s seven-mile stretch of sandy beaches, the popular annual event supports several local charities.

This year these are Dorset Mind, Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, the RNLI, Age UK (North, South & West Dorset), and Helping Homeless Veterans UK.

In 2023, more than £20,000 was raised for the nominated charities.

Health and Life insurer Vitality has been announced as the headline sponsor and official wellness partner of the Bournemouth Bay Run.

Nick Read, managing director of the Vitality Programme, said: “Inspiring people to become more active and live healthier lifestyles is at the very heart of what we do at Vitality, and Bournemouth Bay Run offers a fantastic opportunity for the whole family to get their running shoes on and take part in a race.
