Poole: The Sloop to be completed this spring

The Sloop in Commercial Road Poole is nearing completion following the demolition of The Sloop Inn. 

Developer AJC Group has said the scheme will contribute 86 “much-needed" studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments across six floors. 

Due to be completed this spring, 48 of the homes are being sold on the open market and available with the ‘deposit unlock’ scheme, with 38 being retained as rental properties. 

Prices start from £180,000 for a studio to £500,000 for a three-bedroom apartment, with AJC saying they “ideally suit first-time buyers, downsizers and those looking for a rental property”. 

An open day has been arranged for prospective buyers on February 3 by Goadsby estate agents with buyers able to buy a new home with a five per cent deposit.

Boasting views of Poole Harbour and the hills of Purbeck, the apartments are also gas-free and feature panel radiators with heat pumps for hot water. 

Mark Adams, director of the AJC Group, said: “At a time when saving isn’t easy, the deposit unlock scheme will be a huge help to first-time buyers and those wishing to move up the property ladder - and in such a sought-after location in Poole. 

“We’re also including a managed car club scheme, which will be available for all residents using low-emission vehicles.  

“Residents can book and use a car as and when required, only paying for the time and mileage used.”

The scheme is the largest project to date for residential development specialist AJC Group, based in Sandbanks Road, Poole. 

The deposit unlock scheme lets first-time buyers and existing homeowners purchase a new home valued at up to £750,000 with only a five per cent deposit.  

AJC Group currently has three sites under construction including Lindsay Road and The Sloop and a partnership project in Dorchester with Aster to deliver 57 affordable homes well underway.
