A bomb squad has detonated a possible grenade on a beach in Dorset.
St Alban's Coastguard were called to Chapman's Pool near Worth Matravers on Saturday, January 6 after a member of the public located some possible grenades on the beach.
A Royal Navy team were tasked from Portsmouth to Chapman's Pool with St Albans Coastguard and also Swanage Coastguard.
The possible grenades were detonated on the beach.
A spokesperson from Swanage Coastguard said: "Whether the recent cliff falls had uncovered them or they washed in the items required the attendance of a bomb disposal team.
"The team assessed the items and, due to their condition, they decided to detonate them on the beach. With coastguards providing a cordon the items were cleared."
A spokesperson for the Marine Coastguard Agency said: "HM Coastguard assisted Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) after the ordnance was identified at Chapman’s Pool on Saturday, 6 January.
"Coastguard Rescue Teams from St Albans and Swanage were at the scene at around 11am. Explosive Ordnance Disposal disposed of the ordnance. "
