A MAN was seen "acting erratically" and kicking a shop door in Corfe Mullen.

Police were alerted to a man acing in a "suspicious" way in Froud Way in the early hours at around 1am on Thursday, January 4.

The man, who first arrived in a vehicle, is believed to have been the only person in the area, according to police.

Officers have said they have arrested a 31-year-old man from the town in relation to the incident.

A spokesman for East Dorset police said: "In relation to recent police activity in Corfe Mullen, at around 1am on Thursday 4 January 2024 Dorset Police received a report of a suspicious incident in Froud Way.

"It is reported that a man arrived in a vehicle and behaved in an erratic manner outside shops by kicking the locked door of one of the stores before leaving the area in the vehicle.

"No other person was believed to have been in vicinity at the time and no threats to anyone were reported. 

"Following enquiries by officers, a 31-year-old local man was later arrested in connection with the incident. The suspect has been released on bail while officers continue their investigation."
