RNLI Poole lowered its flag to half mast as it mourned the loss of one of its longest-standing volunteers.

Bob Grieve first moved to Poole in the 1980s before joining the RNLI in the mid 2000s and becoming a member of the visits team.

Performing his role by showing groups around the Poole station, Mr Grieves later became part of the steering group which helped re-open the Old Lifeboat Museum in 2012.

His service at the station eventually led to him receiving a bronze RNLI medal.

The medal was given for his commitment and dedication in raising awareness of all that the Poole Lifeboat station did and for keeping museum staffing steady.

An RNLI Poole spokesperson said: "Bob really enjoyed his lifeboating and was a major part of that large band of volunteers who worked hard behind the scenes, to get the museum open and stepped up to help, spreading the lifeboat love.

"We will miss him, but take comfort knowing that he is reunited with his Norma and we know he will be up there, having a pint and a yarn with his lifeboat buddy Alf."

Bob's funeral was held on January 5 at Harbour View.
