A MAJOR rescue mission was launched after two people fell down a cliff at a caravan park.
The Coastguard was called to Naish Caravan Park in Barton on Sea to reports that two people had fallen down the cliff at Naish beach.
Southbourne Coastguard has said one person, who was recovered, was walking following the incident, but the other was taken to hospital.
Rescue teams, including one from Lymington, used specialist kit and worked alongside the ambulance service.
One person was hoisted up a cliff on a stretcher and taken into the back of an ambulance and to hospital.
It is unclear how far the two people fell during the incident at around 10am on New Year’s Day.
A spokesperson for Southbourne Coastguard said: “Great teamwork with Lymington and Southbourne teams along with ambulance crews.
“Teams carried out a quick debrief before re-stowing the rescue equipment and standing down. Good joint and multi-agency working and thankfully just before the inclement weather set in.”
The following day, the Southbourne Coastguard team rescued a windsurfer off Avon Beach who had got into difficulty during Storm Henk.
The RNLI, based in Mudeford, gave safety advice to the windsurfer once he was safe.
