The Veganuary campaign challenges people to eat plant-based foods for the first month of the year.

The concept was launched in the UK in 2014 and aims to inspire thousands to go vegan in January.

For anyone curious about ditching meat and more, Bournemouth's Triangle is home to a variety of vegan restaurants, cafes, and food shops.

Twelve Eatery

Twelve Eatery in Bournemouth's Triangle was named the fourth best vegetarian restaurant in the UK on TripAdvisor Traveller's Choice Best of the Best.

The restaurant, which opened in 2018, set out to create nutrient-dense, healthy vegan food.

Set up and run by Dalton Mello and Greg Rush, the pair aim to bring locally sourced vegan produce to the Bournemouth community.

Dalton said: "Veganuary does get people more excited to try plant-based food.

"It is a choice to go 30 days without meat, and it can do wonders for our community, our planet and, of course, our health."

He added: "People think that if you go vegan in January, you can't eat anything, but when choosing dishes that will allow you to experience what you normally eat, I think that is fantastic."

Mad Cucumber

Mad Cucumber café was set up in 2013 and offers 100 per cent vegan food.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, specials, sweet treats, and a range of drinks.

One trip advisor review read: "This place is brilliant whether you are vegan or not. Tasty and great value for money."

Sunrise Organics

Sunrise Organics on St Michaels Road was Bournemouth's first 100 per cent vegan food store.

Mark Lewis set up the store in 2015 for vegans and people starting their plant-based journey.

Mark said: "With a vegan cupboard full of food, you can make amazing meals; you just need to put your creative hat on."

Green Label Kitchen- Kara's Vegan Supper Club

Kara's Vegan Supper Club has been running since 2016. It offers a plant-based three-course meal.

Hosted on the last Friday of every month, guests watch vegan nutritionist Kara Haywood prepare a vegan feast.

The dining experience is held at The Warehouse on Norwich Road, where Kara and her husband Jim run a vegan catering company.
