BCP Council is offering £150,000 for a top job following a resignation earlier this year.

The authority is advertising for a new chief operations officer following the resignation of Jess Gibbons earlier this month.

Jess, who has held the post since December 2021, has been promoted to chief executive of Brighton and Hove City Council.

Advertised online, the successful applicant will oversee all place-based services at the council.

“We want someone who will identify opportunities and work in a solution-focused way,” the advertisement said.

“This is a diverse role, covering a wide range of service areas which include environment, planning and destination, investment and development, commercial operations, infrastructure and customer, arts and property.

“The breadth of this role will require a thoroughly strategic operations leader. The portfolio is broad and we need someone with a track record of delivering comparable services at scale.”

It added: “This is a visible role, and your approach will be key in building partnerships to influence and facilitate system-wide change across the public sector, working in our local communities.

“You will also need to bring political nous and experience of working in a similar operating environment.

“It will be important for you to be able to translate our long-term vision and strategy into operational delivery and play a strategic role in our transformation journey.”

Applicants have until January 22 to apply.
