“TO me, it’s now the perfect pub and the perfect café in the perfect spot in the world.”

These are the words of Haven House Inn owner Ed Turner after completing refurbishments to make it ‘a really proper, cosy, traditional pub’.

Old photos of Mudeford, the watering hole and its people adorn the walls, gathered by working with the local Facebook group Keeping Mudeford Alive.

The pub and café have both been redecorated with new furniture and flooring.

Ed took over the business, which also has a gift shop, ten months ago, and since has focused on making it a hub for the community.

Bournemouth Echo:

“All the locals have been so lovely and said it’s so wonderful and it’s so nice to see the pub have some money spent on it, which no disrespect to the predecessors, they haven’t had the time,” he said.

“They think it’s fantastic and they are over the moon about it.

“The team are so excited. Some of the team have been there 15 years, and for them, this is heaven, it's lovely.

“I think it’s finally something that is worthy of its amazing location.”

The pub has hosted fundraising events for the RNLI in Mudeford, including a carol concert that attracted some 600 people.

“Getting involved with the RNLI and getting involved the local community has been fantastic,” Ed said.

“I think we’ve finally got something that the locals can really take their heart to.”

Ed added: “Both of them are just comfy, warm and they’ve got real personality to them now which had just been slightly missing from the pub of old.

“We’ve finally put our touches on it, so it’s an even nicer place to hang out. It’s warm and cosy in the winter, but bright and comfy and fresh for the summer.”

He added that the inn has ‘raised the game’ on the food working with new local suppliers to upgrade the ‘old favourites’ – something that he said punters had already picked up on.

Looking forward, Ed said there are plans afoot for more investment.
