A LIBRARY has thanked those who donated to its reverse advent calendar food donation for Poole foodbank.

The library, in Wimborne Road, collects food donations all year round, working as a food donation point along with several libraries in the conurbation.

However, the library holds a individual collection every Christmas for Poole food bank, with many donating every year to help those in need, made even more important by the Cost of Living Crisis.

A spokesperson for Oakdale Library said: "Oakdale sends a big thank you to all those who have already donated in the last two to three weeks, all your efforts are appreciated.

"We do this every December to help foodbank to help Poole foodbank, a lot of local people to Oakdale donate and pop in."

Poole foodbank is one of the largest foodbanks in the Bournemouth and Poole area and accepts a large amount of donations during the Christmas period.

While every donation is incredibly helpful, the reverse advent calendar can allow the foodbank to tailor to items that they need.

A spokesperson for Poole Foodbank said: "We have taken two phone calls this morning, both offering £500 worth of food. Both have also been very wise in that they have asked specifically what we need.

"That is such a wise thing to do as it helps us target what we are short of."
