CHRISTMAS could bring a chance of wintry showers - even in Dorset, a weather expert has said.
Bournemouth-based weather enthusiast UK Extreme Weather said the festive season could usher in a cold spell - but it's still far too early to tell if it will be a white Christmas.
Speaking on Wednesday night, he said: “Right now and as things stand I would favour a colder Christmas period than normal, models are converging on a north westerly airflow possibly northerly at times, bringing the chance of wintry showers as we lead up to the big day, especially to northern and western parts.
“Still a way off and it could change so expectations are tempered for now in terms of a white Christmas (for some), a few more days before this becomes forecastable with any degree of certainty.
"But the odds of a technical white Christmas somewhere in Blighty must be dropping."
He said for Dorset, it’s tricky to get snow from a straight northerly wind.
He said: "We usually stay cold but dry, a more north westerly direction would favour showers spreading to our region and if the air is cold enough we could see some wintry weather."
"Watch this space", he added.
