A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was left injured.

Police have launched an investigation after a man in his 50s was injured following an “incident” in Verwood.

The man arrested and the victim are believed to be known to each other, police have said.

The victim attended Verwood Surgery in Station Road with injuries at around 3.10pm on Thursday, December 7.

He subsequently attended hospital for treatment.

His injuries have been described as not life-threatening or life-changing.

Dorset Police were not able to give any details on the nature of the victim's injuries. 

Police said it is reported an incident occurred a short time before at an address in the town.

Officers attended to carry out enquiries in the area and a man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at an address in Verwood.

He had sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment by the ambulance service.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “There is believed to be no wider risk to the public.

“The arrested man and the victim are believed to be known each other.

“A detailed investigation is underway by detectives and there will be an increased police presence in the area while enquiries are carried out.”
