A WOMAN was taken to hospital after a car crashed into a tree. 

Emergency services rushed to the aid of a female passenger in her 30s after a Volkswagen Touran crashed into a tree along the A35, near the Sugar Hill junction towards Bere Regis. 

Police had to close the road in the wake of the crash shortly before 1pm on Thursday, December 7. 

The woman was taken to hospital via an ambulance for treatment to a neck injury, police have said. 

Eventually, the road was reopened at around 2.30pm. 

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "At 12.52pm on Thursday 7 December 2023, Dorset Police received a report of a single-vehicle road traffic collision near Woodbury Cross. 

"It is reported that a vehicle has collided with a tree. Police, ambulance, and fire services are in attendance. 

"Two people have been taken to hospital; their injuries are not currently believed to be serious." 

Two fire engines were also called to the scene.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call at 12.57pm this afternoon with reports of a road traffic collision on Poole Road. 

"Crews from Poole and Wareham attended the incident which involved two vehicles – thankfully no one was trapped so no rescues or firefighter assistance was required. 

"Our stop was in at 1.28pm."
