LIDL will finally open its newest Dorset supermarket later this week – around half a year later than expected.

The budget German supermarket will open its newly built West Parley supermarket in Christchurch Road on Thursday, November 30.

Creating around 40 new jobs, the supermarket was initially expected to open earlier this year in the spring.

However, Lidl confirmed earlier his summer that the delay was down to highways work on the road outside, including a new traffic lights system and junction.

Lidl GB’s regional head of property, James Mitchell, said: “As our customer base continues to grow, we are delighted to be opening the doors to our new store in West Parley, giving the community even greater access to the highest quality products at the lowest possible prices.

“As people continue to search for the best value, we’re in the best possible position to help shoppers make sizable savings.

“Whether it is fresh produce, staple shopping list items or a must-have product from the middle of Lidl, our customers can be sure that they will be getting the best value when they shop at Lidl.”

The new store will be open between 7am to 10pm on Monday to Saturday and from 9.30am for browsing on Sunday with tills open 10am to 4pm.

West Parley's new supermarket opening comes in the same month that the retailer opened a fresh new look Ferndown supermarket.

Replacing the old and outdated building in Ringwood Road, Ferndown shoppers had a first glimpse of the new shop on November 9.

Lidl also has a planning application in place for a new supermarket in Sandford, near Wareham, as well as another in Westover Retail Park in Moordown, Bournemouth.

Both applications have not yet been decided by the respective councils.
