A POOLE kindergarten has been praised for ‘happy children’ and ‘inspirational staff’ in its latest Ofsted report.

Kids Love Nature Kindergarten at Lytchett Minster, based in Poole, has maintained its ‘outstanding’ rating in a recent Ofsted report.

In their visit, inspectors found ‘happy and confident’ children who played ‘extremely kindly and considerately’ together.

Staff were praised as ‘inspirational’ in the way they ‘plan meticulously’ to extend children’s learning, and ‘exceptional’ in their high expectations for them.

Managers ‘go above and beyond’ to improve children’s independence, by encouraging them to wash their hands independently and pour water from a jug into a glass.

The sink in the baby room has also been lowered so that children can access it easily and babies sleep in low-level sleep spaces called ‘coracles’ so that they can make choices in their own routines.

The nursery, for zero- to five-year-olds, runs a two-acre allotment with a fulltime gardener, in order to immerse children in the ‘full seed to plate journey’.

The education watchdog report said that children have ‘amazing opportunities’ to learn about healthy and active lifestyles, including growing their own fruit and vegetables.

The kindergarten chef then designs home cooked menus from the seasonal produce that the children have grown in the allotment.

Kids Love Nature Kindergarten at Lytchett Minster have also been awarded ‘Eco Schools Green Flag Award’ for their focus on sustainable education.

The report states that children are ‘highly motivated’ and remain engaged for extended periods of time, such as children excitedly looking for butterflies and bees in pollination beds.

“They count and talk about shapes as they carefully handle the vegetables and explore mathematical concepts.

“Staff model new language, such as 'pollination', as children become completely absorbed in meaningful learning.”

Kindergarten manager Georgia Hulls said: “We are thrilled to announce that we've yet again achieved something truly wonderful!

“A big thank you to all the hard work of our incredible team and children, and the support of our fantastic parents.”

This marks Kids Love Nature’s ninth consecutive ‘outstanding’ inspection since opening their first nursery at Avon Heath in 2012.

The Bournemouth based company also has sites at Marwell Zoo, Lymington and Wickham.
