The weather warning for heavy rain over the weekend affecting Dorset has been updated.

Yesterday, a yellow weather warning was issued for the whole county and South West of England, stretching east to Hampshire as well as covering some of Wales.

The warning that was previously put in place for Friday night has now been updated and moved to Saturday, November 18 from 12am, and is in place until 10am when it was previously due to last until 3pm.

Up to 30mm of rain could be expected whilst the warning is in place in coastal areas, according to the Met Office.

The Met Office said that spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible, whilst flooding of ‘a few homes and businesses’ is likely.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “Another area of rain will cross the UK heaviest during early Saturday, before it clears to the east during the morning.

“Some of that rain, especially in southwestern parts of the UK, is likely to be heavy at times, and follows many weeks of above-average rainfall in this area. The associated weather system should clear to the east later Saturday morning, with more showery conditions following. 10 to 15mm is expected widely in the warning area, with a few places near southern coasts and over high ground seeing 20 to 30mm.”t
