FIREFIGHTERS and emergency services tackled a blaze after flames broke out of a Bournemouth property.

The fire tore through the house on Lincoln Avenue, Springbourne at around 4pm this afternoon.

Clouds of smoke emitted from the upstairs window as a fire engine worked to put out the fire.

One witness said she was walking to the corner shop when she saw the fire engine rush towards the scene and within five minutes ‘police cars blocked the streets’.

A neighbour nearby said they smelt smoke and went outside where they saw the blaze.

Police officers are currently in attendance along with the fire service.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to Spring Road, Bournemouth at 4.14pm this afternoon (13 November) for a fire in a first-floor bedroom of a residential building.

“Crews attended from Springbourne, Redhill Park. Westbourne, Christchurch (x2) and Poole, supported by the aerial ladder platform from Westbourne, as there were concerns that someone could be in the affected room, but everyone has now been accounted for.

“Four breathing apparatus wearers have used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and our stop was at 4.49pm.

“We are still on scene and a fire investigation has started.”

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 4.17pm and officers are in attendance assisting the fire service.”
