BUSES will be diverted when a busy road in Bournemouth is closed one way for around a week next week.

A southbound closure will be in force in Wimborne Road near Cemetery Junction from Monday, November 13.

Morebus said this means all buses heading from the university and Winton to Lansdowne, except for the 5/5a, will need to divert.

The bus operator said it expects delays to its m1, 5, 5a, 6, 6a, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 32 and 737 services, along with the U1, U3 and U4.

A Morebus spokesperson said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these diversions. Unfortunately, these works are out of our control.”

The 6, 6a, 12, 17, 32, and 737 towards Bournemouth will all serve the Alma Road stop at Winton Banks instead of St Luke's Church and then divert via Charminster to get to Cemetery Junction.

Stops at East Avenue and Stokewood Road will be missed. Buses heading towards Bearwood, Castlepoint and Poole will be able to remain on their usual route.

Meanwhile, the 13 route from Wimborne will miss Moordown and Winton completely with buses diverting from Westover Retail Park.

The U1 from Talbot Campus will call at Talbot Manor then run non-stop via Winton Banks.

A temporary timetable will be in place for the U4 and it will miss some of its usual route.

From Talbot Campus, it will call at Talbot Manor before running directly to Bournemouth town centre and will not go via Cemetery Junction or Lansdowne. After calling at the town centre, it will continue to Westbourne.

People who need to get from Bournemouth Gateway Building to the town centre and Westbourne are advised to walk to the Cotlands Road stop in Holdenhurst Road and use the m1.

The U4 will run its normal route from Westbourne to Talbot Campus.
