TWO men in their 70s were hospitalised after being attacked by a gang of youths at a fireworks display.

A volunteer at Flameburst was assaulted after refusing to let in a group of males.

When a second man tried to help him, he was knocked to the floor after being punched in the head.

They were both treated for injuries at hospital following the incident off Crane Drive, Verwood, at 11.14pm on Saturday, October 28.

Police have now released CCTV and want witnesses to come forward.

Police constable Rhianna Sly, of East Dorset police, said: “The violence demonstrated during this incident is completely unacceptable and we are doing all we can to support the victims and identify those responsible.

“Our enquiries are continuing and I would urge anyone who was at the event and saw what happened to please come forward.

“I have obtained a CCTV image of the suspects and while it is of very low quality, I would like to issue it in the hope that it may jog someone’s memory.

“Also, I am appealing to anyone within the vicinity who may have captured the group on CCTV footage and may be able to assist my enquiries.

“The local neighbourhood policing team is fully aware and can be approached by anyone with any information or concerns.”

Anyone who can help police with their investigation should call 101, quoting occurrence number 55230171448.
